Star Lab to speak at 2016 Ground Vehicle Systems Engineering and Technology Symposium (GVSETS)

Star Lab, a leading provider of embedded security solutions for complex systems, announced today that it has been selected to present it’s abstract “You’ve Implemented Encryption, Now What? Using Mandatory Access Controls to Increase Cyber Resiliency During & After an Attack” at the Vehicle Electronics and Architecture (VEA) Technical Session of the 2016 Ground Vehicle Systems Engineering and Technology Symposium (GVSETS) scheduled for August 2-4, 2016 in Novi, MI.

According to Jonathan Kline, Star Lab’s CTO, “vehicle and transportation systems provide a challenging use case for security, where physical and virtual access is virtually unlimited, and its relatively easy to procure replacement parts, components, and even whole vehicles to continue attacking a system. Given these challenges in the vehicle deployment model, the goal shifts from denying an attacker access, to limiting the damage an attacker can do once access is achieved. Specifically, the integrity and availability of the safety-critical subsystems must be maintained even after a successful compromise. The use of basic encryption is only the beginning in terms of securing vehicle systems and is generally not sufficient to preserve the integrity of these systems during or after a successful attack.”

The upcoming GVSETS event brings together more than 1,000 executives, program managers, engineers and other key decision makers to discuss initiatives, programs, plans and technologies in the ground vehicle domain for both manned and unmanned systems. This is a unique event that brings Ground Vehicle Community members together to learn and collectively collaborate to outline the future course of military ground vehicle systems and contribute to the future success of our nation’s Warfighters.
